Improve Your Quality Of Life

Did you know your teeth and jaw alignment could affect oral, physical, and mental health? Misaligned teeth and jaw can negatively impact your overall well-being and lifestyle in ways you might not have thought of! Here are some examples:

  • Overcrowded teeth are harder to clean, leading to a build-up of plaque and bacteria that causes bad breath, tooth decay, gum disease, and more.
  • Crooked teeth can decrease your chances of getting a job, having second dates, and making friends.
  • Malocclusion can make chewing challenging and increase your risk of choking. In severe cases, it can lead to poor nutrition, vitamin deficiencies, and digestive problems.
  • You are likely to suffer from dry mouth, migraines, and neck pain.
  • Pain in the jaw or mouth can make talking, eating, and performing oral hygiene unpleasant.
  • Oral health issues can lead to depression, anxiety, isolation, and low self-esteem.
  • Poor alignment can create narrow air passageways, which can make it difficult to breathe.
  • Grinding and friction from improper teeth and jaw placement can produce abnormal wear and tear on the teeth.

You can still receive orthodontic work if you are unhappy with your smile but don’t suffer from any related health conditions. Booth Orthodontics is happy to provide treatment to address cosmetic or aesthetic concerns! Changing your smile can boost your self-esteem and quality of life by changing how you and others perceive you.

What treatment options are available?

Booth Orthodontics is thrilled to offer three types of braces to our Homer Glen community. All are fantastic options for adults seeking first-time care or retreatment.

Invisalign

If you have avoided orthodontic care year after year because the appearance and restrictions of braces discouraged you, consider clear aligners! Clear aligners are removable, transparent trays that straighten the teeth by applying pressure. Booth Orthodontics proudly offers patients the leading in-office clear aligner brand, Invisalign!

Invisalign provides stunning smiles with minimal disruption to your lifestyle. Their removability of the trays gives patients flexibility and freedom while still providing excellent results. Because you need to remove the trays for eating, drinking, and performing oral hygiene, you can maintain your regular diet and hygiene routine.

Each tray is custom-made for comfort and a low-profile look. You’ll quickly forget you’re wearing them, and most people won’t even see them! The customization lets you finish treatment in as little as six months because the trays can target your specific needs!

Clear aligners are fantastic for patients like Olivia, who have mild to medium bite needs. As a self-proclaimed foodie, she didn’t want to give up any of her favorite snacks or meals, and she certainly didn’t want to be unable to try new items! Olivia’s job also required her to deliver a lot of presentations and make phone calls to clients. She did not want to risk the possibility of an orthodontic emergency (such as a broken bracket) that could make her job temporarily unpleasant or impossible. Invisalign treatment was the best choice for her.

Note: Before choosing Invisalign, you must be positive that you can wear your removable trays for twenty-two hours a day, keep track of them when you’re not wearing them, and follow your treatment schedule.

Clear Braces

If you prefer a subtle appearance but don’t want the responsibility of clear aligners or are concerned that your bite needs might be too complex for them, don’t worry. Booth Orthodontics has you covered, too!

This option uses tooth-colored ceramic brackets and ligatures (elastics that hold the wire to the bracket) to create the impression of clear braces. Though not as “invisible” as clear aligners, they blend in with your teeth for a less noticeable look than their metal counterpart (below) and, contrary to popular belief, clear braces are highly unlikely to stain, so there’s no need to worry about losing their aesthetic halfway through treatment!

Clear braces are fixed orthodontic appliances, so only Dr. Booth can remove them. That means you will have to adjust your diet and oral hygiene routine to preserve your health and your braces. Fortunately, you don’t have to change much, and the changes will quickly become second nature.

Metal Braces

Last but certainly not least is metal braces. This braces type has been around for years and, despite its age, continues to be the most popular treatment option. Like clear braces, metal braces are bonded to the teeth, so you must adjust your diet and hygiene routine, but the sacrifice is so worth it!

Metal braces are known for their strength and durability, which enables them to treat even the most complex orthodontic issues. Their metal brackets can handle more intense wire tightenings than their aesthetic counterparts so that you can finish treatment quickly. However, the shape-memory wire almost eliminates the need for wire tightening adjustments. The continuous pressure applied to teeth by the memory wire makes treatment faster and more comfortable than ever before.

This braces type can be used for practically all types of orthodontic needs. Though clear aligners and braces can also handle orthodontic accessories, like rubber bands for jaw alignment corrections, metal braces can incorporate them with the most ease. If you wish to finish treatment as quickly as possible, metal braces might be best for you.
